When Tom Van Horn died in a car accident, his wife, Jane, worked with family and friends to create a lasting memorial: they established the Tom Van Horn Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. Gary and Carol Ann Hixon, long-time supporters of nonprofit organizations in Fort Collins, established a Donor Advised fund in 2005 at the Community Foundation to organize their charitable giving. The purpose of establishing this endowment fund was to create a means of support for ongoing activities of the Berthoud Historical Society and the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum.
