Transfer IRA Assets to Charitable Fund at Community Foundation
Bohemian Foundation Grants $430,000 to Support FortZED
Community Foundation Hosts "Destination Downtown Loveland" Event
On October 3, 2008 President Bush signed into law the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. This allows donors who are 70½ or older to transfer IRA assets of up to $100,000 directly to charitable organizations. The IRA assets are not included in the IRA owner's income and --- most importantly --- are not taxed, preserving the full amount for charitable purposes. IRA assets transferred in both 2008 and 2009 are eligible under this program.

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado would like to thank Bohemian Foundation for its recent $430,000 grant to the UniverCity Connections project known as FortZED.
UniverCity Connections is an initiative of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado.
FortZED, born from the UniverCity Connections Sustainable Energy Task Group, won a $6.3 million Department of Energy grant and plans to transform the UniverCity district into the largest Zero Energy District in the world, creating as much local renewable energy as it uses.

An article in the July, 13, 2007 Coloradoan said “In one of the first tangible outcomes of UniverCity Connections, which encompasses Old Town, the Colorado State University campus and the downtown river corridor, FortZED is a project that could help distinguish Fort Collins as a leader in alternative energy development....Rarely do we see such win-win situations between the economy and the environment. Reflecting Colorado's commitment toward developing alternative energy, Fort Collins and Northern Colorado have a viable opportunity to lead by example through FortZED.”
